Addiction Technology Training Center Network created a guide to use to text messaging to improve substance use treatment outcomes. A study is referenced in the guide stating that text messaging increased appointment attendance as well as appropriate
cancellation when clients could not attend.The guide suggests technology works best when it is used to build
motivation,
make something
easier to do, and
remind people
to do something
in real time.
