Medication Delivery/Working with pharmacies
1. In Arlington, VA they have been able to partner with a pharmacy that prepacks medications into bubble packets so meds are already divided like a med tray. They are then able to reduce the time spent packaging meds and only have to coordinate delivery.
2. Pharmacies like CVS are offering free medication delivery. It may be helpful to change pharmacies for a month or two to access that benefit.
3. Some teams in Washington have shut down clinics completely and have moved to 100% blister packs via the pharmacy.
4. You can create a procedure for delivering meds and supplies where you sanitize items, leave them at the door, and then interact with client either via the phone or at a safe distance.
5. If it is required to have clients sign that they have received medications, leave the meds and a pen with the page they are supposed to sign, and then retreat to safe distance. You can sanitize the pen after they use it.
6. Train clients on how to properly manage the medication packages if the type or quantity of medication is unfamiliar
7. If a client was on daily medications, increase the number of days that they are given, and then inform them that they are going to be called each morning to help prompt them to take meds.
8. If the client is living with a family member, utilize the developed relationship you have with that natural support to see if they are willing to help with medication monitoring.
