Managing employee fear and stress
• A team in Washington has done multiple things
o extended team meetings in the morning
o nightly check ins where the team is given all the new information that the Team Leader has on COVID-19, from these calls, etc..
o The team lead also pushed and pushed for the agency to allow them to work from home.
o She tried to honor people's feeling of stress and fears.
o Sent team members resources, such as a Harvard class on happiness.
o worked to get the team more PPE, including driving to a janitorial supply store in Canada for a gallon of hand sanitizer.
o Send team members positive messages.
• Take the time to meet with staff individually (via technology) to check in how they’re feeling, what their needs are. Remember that there may be aspects of their life you are unaware of that may be making the staff member at a higher risk for COVID-19 infection or spread
